Book Review: Magnus Chase and The Ship Of The Dead (WARNING: SPOILERS)
Ok, time for the juicy spoiler review. One last time, there are spoilers, so don’t read this unless you’ve read the book or will never read the book. Let’s dive straight in.
As in my other review, I’m going to say that this is the best Magnus Chase book of them all. Finally pairing Magnus and Alex together was an excellent choice by Rick, I especially liked the way he did it, getting Alex to kiss Magnus to literally keep him alive. The way that Magnus fights Loki is one of the most unusual. They literally fight in a ‘flyting’ which is basically a battle of insults. Winning but talking about his team and how Loki is alone is especially spectacular. Having Mallory and Halfborn broken up throughout a lot of the story was also good, creating some tension and resentment within the group of heroes. All in all, I would still urge you to read the book, because there are many things that I haven’t mentioned and I’m trying to make these two posts shorter than most of mine.
